Last Chance! Connecticut State Department of Education Accepting Applications for Interdistrict Cooperative Grant Program – Deadline February 6, 2026

The Interdistrict Cooperative Grant (IDCG) Program, administered by the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE), is now accepting applications for the 2026–2027 grant cycle. This competitive grant program supports the establishment of interdistrict cooperative programs that increase student achievement and reduce racial, ethnic, and economic isolation.

Eligible applicants include local and regional boards of education, Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs), and approved nonsectarian nonprofit organizations. The Department of Transportation (DOT) is currently accepting applications for the Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Grant. Applications are now due February 6, 2026.

This program provides funding for capital projects that reduce the state of good repair backlog, improve performance, or expand or establish new intercity passenger rail service — including privately operated services. Funding may support infrastructure upgrades, major repairs, modernization, and system enhancements that increase speed, reliability, frequency, or support electrification.

Eligible projects include:

  • Replacement, rehabilitation, or repair of infrastructure, equipment, or facilities to bring intercity passenger rail assets into a state of good repair
  • Projects that improve performance, such as higher speeds, increased frequency, improved reliability, or electrification
  • Projects that expand or establish new intercity passenger rail service

Eligible applicants include states, interstate compacts, public agencies or chartered authorities, political subdivisions of a state, Amtrak, federally recognized Tribes, or combinations of these entities.

Maine Opportunities

Future Funding Opportunity to Watch – Maine CDBG Economic Development Program (EDP)

The Maine Office of Community Development will begin accepting Letters of Intent for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Economic Development Program (EDP) starting July 3, 2026 (the first Friday of the month).

This program provides gap funding to municipalities applying on behalf of an identified local business to support the creation or retention of jobs for low- and moderate-income residents. Awards of up to $100,000 may be used for eligible activities such as working capital and capital equipment purchases.

The Healey–Driscoll Administration has announced the opening of the FY27 Round of the Community One Stop for Growth, a coordinated state funding opportunity that allows communities to apply for multiple economic development, housing, and infrastructure grant programs through a single application process.

This round supports a wide range of project types, including site readiness, housing production, downtown revitalization, and infrastructure improvements.

Green Communities Competitive Grant Program (FY26–FY27)

New Hampshire Opportunities

New Hampshire Granite State Clean Fleets Grant (Municipal Fleets)

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) is accepting applications for the Granite State Clean Fleets Grant, a competitive reimbursement program funded through the Volkswagen Mitigation Trust to help municipalities and public agencies replace older, high-emission diesel vehicles and equipment with cleaner, more efficient alternatives.

This program supports municipal fleet upgrades such as DPW trucks, plow/dump trucks, school buses, transit vehicles, and other public works or public safety equipment, including electric and alternative-fuel vehicles (with charging infrastructure) as well as cleaner diesel replacements.

Applications are reviewed in monthly funding rounds. The current January application cycle closes on January 30, and approximately $7.5 million remains available statewide. Applications submitted after January 30 will roll into the next monthly review cycle, provided funds remain.

Because this is anticipated to be the final funding opportunity under the Volkswagen Mitigation Trust, municipalities are strongly encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES reminds municipalities and eligible regional entities that the application deadline for the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Grant Program is February 1.

This program provides grant funding to support the planning and operation of local and regional HHW collection events. Grant recipients are required to provide a local match equal to or greater than the grant award.

New Mexico Opportunities

Funding Opportunity – New Mexico Overflow Sewer Grant (OSG) Program

The New Mexico Construction Programs Bureau administers the Overflow Sewer Grant (OSG) Program, which provides 100% grant funding to support eligible wastewater and sewer infrastructure projects under the framework of Clean Water Act Section 603(c), similar to the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF). Eligible applicants include municipalities and municipal entities, and funding is limited.

OSG allocations are typically released once per federal fiscal year. To be considered for OSG funding, applicants must complete the FY2026 Clean Water State Revolving Fund application and indicate Overflow Sewer Grant (OSG) as the intended funding source.
