At Capital Strategic Solutions (CSS), we know that teaching isn’t just confined to classrooms, it extends into municipal offices, fire academies, community workshops, and training programs. Many members of our team have either retired from the education field, dedicated their careers to teaching within the municipal sector, or now serve as consultants, coaches, and trainers who share their expertise with communities.

On World Teachers’ Day, October 5, we honor their collective contributions to education and knowledge-sharing. Our staff continue to embody the spirit of teaching, leading by example, mentoring others, and equipping leaders, employees, and community members with the tools they need to succeed.

Spotlight on Tom Impey

Among those we celebrate is Senior Project Manager Tom Impey, who has dedicated his career to public safety and education. Tom brings decades of experience in Fire and Emergency Medical Services, beginning his career in Plainville where he rose from Lieutenant to Fire Prevention Captain.

Today, in addition to his consulting work with CSS, Tom is an instructor at the Massachusetts Fire Academy, where he provides hands-on training and supports public education efforts. His teaching philosophy reflects his approach to leadership:

“Teaching to me is about leading by example. Good leadership means passing on your own tacit knowledge to others in your organization/profession to continue to move the organization/profession forward.”

The Joy of Teaching

For Tom, the true reward comes from watching others grow in confidence and capability:

“I enjoy seeing others become capable of using the knowledge provided and incorporate it into real world scenarios for themselves and others. Nothing compares to seeing students succeed in using the knowledge passed on to them.”

Tom Impey, Senior Project Manager, Capital Strategic Solutions, LLC

This joy in seeing others succeed is shared by many at CSS who dedicate their time to coaching, mentoring, and training municipalities and organizations.

Why We Celebrate

Educators play a pivotal role not only in shaping individual success but also in building stronger communities. Tom captures this best:

“I believe celebrating is important so others can recognize the important role educators play in the personal successes of their students. I also believe it helps to motivate others to become educators themselves.”

On World Teachers’ Day 2025, we proudly recognize the contributions of our CSS team members, past and present educators, trainers, and mentors, who continue to lead through teaching. Their work reflects the very best of what education can achieve: sharing knowledge, inspiring others, and strengthening communities.

And today, we give special thanks to Tom Impey, whose dedication to teaching in public safety and municipal leadership embodies the values of CSS and the spirit of World Teachers’ Day.

To all educators, we thank you for your service, your leadership, and your impact.
