The Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) has announced the opening of the 2025 application cycle for the Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. Approximately $11 million in federal funding is available to support community development projects in municipalities with populations under 50,000. Applications must be submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025.​

Eligible Activities

  • Public Housing Modernization 
  • Infrastructure Improvements Supporting Affordable Housing 
  • Housing Rehabilitation 
  • ADA Compliance Upgrades 
  • Community Facilities Enhancements 
  • Economic Development Projects 

Application Requirements

  • Only one application per town will be accepted. 
  • Applications must meet at least one of the following National Objectives: 
  • Benefit to low- and moderate-income persons 
  • Elimination of slum and blight 
  • Addressing an urgent need 
  • Participation in the mandatory application workshop held on April 1, 2025, is required for all applicants.

  • Only complete applications will be accepted and scored.​
