The Outdoor Recreation Legacy Program (ORLP) grant is open again this year for communities that have 30,000 or more residents and are located within a community that is determined to be disadvantaged per the Climate and Environmental Justice Screening tool. The purpose of the ORLP Program is to provide new or significantly improved recreation opportunities in urban, disadvantaged communities lacking access to walkable outdoor recreation (a.k.a. park deserts).
Communities that can prioritize a nature-based solution for a park or provide additional benefits to the community such as sustainable design/materials or expanding a public private partnership will have the strongest application and eligible for grants between $300,000 and $15 million. This reimbursement grant does require a 50% match, and communities must have a current open space and recreation plan (OSRP) on file with the state. Applications must be submitted by email no later than Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 3 p.m.
