Connecticut Opportunities
DEEP Accepting CERCLA 128(a) Brownfield Grant Applications Until December 5
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is currently accepting applications for the third round of the CERCLA 128(a) Brownfield Grant Program. Applications are due by December 5, 2025.
Funding is provided by the EPA’s supplemental CERCLA grant and is designed to support environmental assessment and cleanup activities on brownfield sites. The intention is to enable the creation, preservation, or addition of park space, greenways, or other publicly accessible recreational space. Applications are also evaluated against DEEP’s mission to conserve, improve, and protect natural resources and environment in Connecticut, and to protect human health through the assessment and cleanup of polluted properties.
Eligible applicants include municipalities and non-profits. A total of $680,000 is available in program funding; awards up to $250,000 are available for assessment and cleanup.

DEEP Accepting Applications for Connecticut Recreational Trails Program Until December 18
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is currently accepting applications for the Connecticut Recreational Trails program. Applications are due December 18, 2025.
Funding supports projects that improve or restore new or existing trails, improve access, or the purchase of necessary equipment for these activities.
Eligible activities include but are not limited to:
- Planning, Design, and Construction of new trails (motorized and non-motorized)
- Maintenance and Restoration of existing trails (motorized and non-motorized)
- Improvement of access for people with disabilities
- Purchase or lease of trail construction and maintenance equipment
- Acquisition of land or easements for a trail or trail corridor
- Operation of educational programs to promote safety and environmental protection as related to recreational trails
Eligible applicants include municipalities, state departments, tribal governments, and private non-profits.
Program funding amounts will vary depending on the availability of funds. Requests should be less than $1 million, and projects require a 20% match.

DEEP Accepting Applications for the Long Island Sound Ecosystems Grant Program Until December 16
The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is currently accepting applications for the Long Island Sound Ecosystems Grant. Applications are due December 16, 2025.
Funding supports the planning and implementation of projects that focus on coastal habitat restoration and green stormwater infrastructure. The program has two primary goals:
- To promote large-scale habitat restoration and enhance restoration planning, while also helping coastal communities and ecosystems adapt to changing environmental conditions.
- To further promote the application of green stormwater infrastructure techniques to reduce nonpoint source pollution, improving water resource quality.
This program has approximately $7 million in available funds, no match is required.
Two Q&A sessions will be held. One on October 16, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. and a second on November 18, from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Federal Opportunities

DOI Currently Accepting Applications for Battlefield Interpretation Grant Until November 25
The Department of the Interior (DOI) National Park Service (NPS) is currently accepting applications for the Battlefield Interpretation Grant. Applications are due November 25, 2025.
Funding supports the preservation of cultural resources and community-driven stewardship of battlefields and sites of armed conflict. The program provides assistance to projects that modernize and enhance battlefield interpretation and education at Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War battlefields. Use of technology is encouraged either via videos, mobile apps, interpretive signs, or augmented reality.
Funding may be used for scoping and implementation activities.
- Scoping Grants: may fund project development, research, content creation, stakeholder engagement, audience research, and technical proposals.
- Implementation Grants: may fund the implementation of projects that have already completed interdisciplinary scoping.
Eligible applicants include city or town governments, county governments, state governments, public or private institutions of higher education, non-profits, and Native American tribal organizations or tribal governments.
A 1:1 match is required. The estimated program funding is $1,000,000. Award amounts vary depending on the type of grant. Scoping grant awards range from $20,000-$50,000 and implementation awards range from $50,000 -$200,000.

Florida Opportunities
DEP Hosting Webinar on Parks and Open Space Grant Cycle October 15
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Florida Communities Trust (FCT) hosted an informational webinar on the 2025-26 Parks and Open Space grant application. The webinar was held on October 15, 2025.
The Parks and Open Space grant program provides funding to local governments, and non-profits for the acquisition of parks, open space, and greenways for outdoor recreation and natural resource protection. The program requires a 25% match, unless a community is otherwise exempt.
Applications for this grant cycle will be accepted from November 3, 2025 – January 19, 2026.

Massachusetts Opportunities
MassDOT Currently Accepting Applications for Micro-Transit and Last Mile Transit Grant Until November 7
Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is currently accepting applications for the Micro-Transit and Last Mile Transit Grant. Applications are due November 7, 2025.
Funding supports existing or new Micro-Transit or Last Mile projects and services. Micro-Transit refers to technology-enabled service of multi-passenger vehicles to provide on-demand services with dynamically generated routing. Micro-Transit is usually in a designated service area, and service models include first/last mile connections to a fixed route, hub to hub zone-bases services, combination ADA complementary paratransit services with general transit service, and point to point service in a specific zone. Last Mile Transit refers to projects that bridge the gap between a rider’s home and transit, or their destination and transit.
Specific program objectives include:
- Expand mobility options for rural communities
- Extend service to veterans, working families, older adults, people with disabilities and low-income individuals
- Provide mobility choices to people with mobility needs
- Extend equitable and affordable transportation mobility improvements in the commonwealth
- Serve cities and towns that are taking meaningful steps to produce new housing and have adopted best practices to promote sustainable housing development
Eligible applicants include transit authorities, municipalities, and non-profits. Approximately $10 million is available in funding.

MassDOT Currently Accepting Applications for Community Transit Grant Program Until November 7
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is currently accepting applications for the Community Transit Grant Program. Applications are due November 7, 2025.
Funding supports the operation of transportation, or promotion of mobility management to expand mobility for older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income people.
Eligible applicants include transit authorities, municipalities, Councils on Aging, non-profits, private operators of public transit (shared ride) services. Eligible projects include the operation of transportation services, support mobility management initiatives, or wheelchair accessible vehicles.

EOEEA Currently Accepting Applications for Drought Resiliency and Water Efficiency Grant Program Until November 21
The Executive Office of Energy and Enviornmental Affairs (EOEEA) is currently accepting applications for the Drought Resiliency and Water Efficiency Grant Program. Applications are due November 21, 2025.
Funding supports projects that promote climate resilience by helping communities and public water suppliers reduce both indoor and outdoor water use, improve water loss control programs, and increase drought management/planning. The objective is to create lasting impacts on water conservation and drought preparedness, to help Massachusetts communities better adapt to the evolving climate and ensure sustainability of water resources.
Eligible applicants include municipalities, public water suppliers, non-profits, public schools, colleges or universities, and regional planning agencies. Partnership of multiple entities is encouraged.
This is a reimbursement program, with an award ceiling of $50,000 per project. No match is required, but the project must be completed by June 30, 2026.
New Mexico Opportunities
EDD Accepting Applications for FY26 Healthy Food Financing Fund Until November 19
The New Mexico Economic Development Department (EDD) is currently accepting applications for the Healthy Food Financing Fund (HFFF). Applications are due November 19, 2025.
Funding supports the intersection of economic development in New Mexico’s food/agricultural supply chain with increased food security for New Mexicans. HFFF is accepting applications to invest in food retailers, food processors, food hubs/distributors, and climate-smart pre-production projects.
Program objectives include:
- Increase access to food for historically under-resourced communities
- Address workforce development challenges through the creation and retention of jobs in the food and agricultural supply chain
- Strengthen and diversity in-state market channel access for small and mid-scale food and agricultural operations
- Advance food safe storage/aggregation, distribution, and transportation in regional food supply chain networks
- Support the implementation of regenerative agricultural practices
Eligible applicants include political subdivisions of the state, Indian nations, Tribes, and pueblos, for-profit business enterprises, cooperatively owned businesses, tax-exempt non-profit corporations, and small farmers or ranchers with a gross cash farm income under $250,000.
Rhode Island Opportunities
DEM Currently Accepting Applications for Local Agriculture and Seafood Act Grant Until December 5
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is accepting applications for the Local Agriculture and Seafood Act (LASA) grant. Applications are due December 5, 2025.
Funding supports the growth, development, and marketing of local food and seafood in Rhode Island. It is made possible by funding from the State of Rhode Island. Funding priorities for this round include:
- Support the entry, growth, and/or sustainability of Socially Disadvantaged, Beginning, Small, Women, and veteran agriculture and aquaculture producers and fishers.
- Support climate-smart agriculture mitigation activities and Climate Change related agricultural adaptations.
- Support the development of new marketing, promotion, sales, and/or distribution channels, including connecting local farms and fishers with Rhode Island’s food insecure communities.
- Support the development of new products, including value added processing capacity.
- Foster new cooperatives, partnerships, and/or collaborations among Rhode Island agriculture and aquaculture producers, and fishers and supporting organizations.
- Protect the future availability of agricultural land for producers, including farm transition planning and implementation.
- Assist with on-farm Food Safety improvements including FSMA and HACCP Compliance.
- Support second-generation farmers and succession planning, including intergenerational transfer of knowledge, skills, and operations to ensure the long-term sustainability of Rhode Island agriculture and aquaculture.
This round has approximately $450,000 in funding. The maximum award is $20,000.

The Municipal Planning Grant Program Accepting Applications Until November 3
The Vermont Department of Housing and Community Development is currently accepting applications for the Municipal Planning Grant Program. The Application deadline is November 3, 2025.
Funding supports planning and revitalization for local municipalities in Vermont to support statewide planning goals.
The FY 26 application timeline is as follows:
- September 1, 2025: online application opens
- November 3, 2025: application deadline
