Federal Opportunities

DOJ Accepting Applications for FY25 Training and Services to End Violence and Abuse Against Individuals with Disabilities and Deaf People Program

The Department of Justice (DOJ) Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) is currently accepting applications for the FY25 Training and Services to End Violence and Abuse Against Individuals with Disabilities and Deaf People Program. Applications are due September 23, 2025.

Funding is designed to provide training, consultation, and information on domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, sexual assault, and abuse by caregivers against individuals with disabilities and Deaf people to enhance direct support to such individuals. Individuals with disabilities in funding eligibility are as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Eligible applicants include county governments, city or town governments, federally recognized Native American tribal governments, Native American tribal organizations, state governments, and non-profits.

Awards range from $500,000 to $600,000 with an estimated total program funding of $12 million.

Florida Opportunities

DEP To Accept Applications for Coastal Partnership Initiative Starting September 1 

The Florida Department of Enviornmental Protection (DEP) is set to start accepting applications for the FY26-27 Coastal Partnership Initiative (CPI) on September 1, 2025. Applications are due October 31, 2025.  

Funding supports the protection and management of coastal resources with four specific priority areas; resilient communities, coastal resource stewardship, access to coastal resources, and working waterfronts.  

Eligible applicants include all 35 coastal counties and subsequent municipalities within those counties which are required to include a coastal element in their comprehensive plan. Other prospective applicants like Florida public colleges, universities, regional planning councils, national estuary programs, and nonprofits may also apply so long as they have an eligible local government partner. Eligible applicants may only submit one application per funding cycle.  

The award minimum is $10,000. The maximum award for construction projects, habitat restoration, invasive plant removal, or land acquisition is $60,000. The maximum award for planning, design, and coordination is $30,000. A 1:1 match is required.

Maine Opportunities

DCAF Accepting Applications for Maine Trails Grant Until September 26 

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry (DACF) is still accepting applications for the Maine Trails Grant. Applications are due September 26, 2025.  

Funding supports the acquisition, development and renovation of trails for outdoor recreation and active transportation. The program offers up to $7.5 million per year in grant funding to leverage $3 million in public and private matching contributions. 

The program supports motorized, non-motorized, and multi-use trails across the state. The Maine Trails Advisory Committee is comprised of representatives from both motorized and non-motorized parties, ensuring transparent and proportional representation. 

Eligible applicants include municipalities, other subdivisions of state government, and non-profit organizations. Eligible projects must include public use and ensure access to recreation improvements funded by the grant for the greatest duration possible.  

Examples of eligible projects include:  

  • Restoration of existing recreational trails, trailheads, and trailside amenities 
  • Development of new trails, trailheads and trailside amenities 
  • Acquisition of easements or fee simple title to property for recreational trails or recreational trail corridors

Massachusetts Opportunities

DER Seeking Applications for FY26 Dam Removal Preliminary Design Services

The Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) is seeking applications for FY26 Dam Removal Preliminary Design Services. DER has released the notice of funding opportunity and expects to this opportunity to open soon.  

Funding supports the removal of unwanted dams which can alter river function, trap sediment, reduce water quality, and block the movement of fish. Eligible projects will receive technical assistance from DER staff and DER led contractors from qualified vendors.  

DER is interested in projects that meet the following criteria:  

  • Removal projects that are in the early stage of development or decision making 
  • Dams that are subject to Massachusetts Office of Dam Safety jurisdiction  
  • Dams that are either municipally owned or are of interest to a municipality from a restoration or resiliency perspective  

Eligible applicants include Massachusetts municipalities, such as towns, cities, districts, and other commissions. A municipality may apply for a dam it owns or on behalf of another entity that owns the dam. Dams should be in the boundary of the applying municipality or a municipality may apply for a dam that if removed would provide direct benefits to the applying municipality.

New Hampshire Opportunities

NHDES Now Accepting Applications for Clean Diesel Grant Program 

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) is now accepting applications for the Clean Diesel Grant Program. Applications are accepted on a rolling month basis, on the 20th of each month until all funding has been obligated. 

Funding aims to reduce emissions from diesel engines. This is a competitive reimbursement program funded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is focused on replacing older diesel vehicles, engines and equipment. 

Eligible projects include, but are not limited to: 

  • Vehicle and equipment replacement (e.g. plow truck, wheeled loader, or school bus replacement).
  • Engine replacement (e.g. marine or highway engine replacement). 
  • Idle reduction technologies (e.g. electrified parking space or marine shore power technologies). 
  • Aerodynamic technologies (e.g. low rolling resistance tires). 

Eligible applicants include municipalities, state agencies, public school districts, public community colleges and universities, and public transit agencies. Awards provide up to a 60% reimbursement for eligible projects.

New Mexico Opportunities

New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Trails+ Grant Accepting Applications Until September 30

The New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division is now accepting applications to the Outdoor Recreation Trails+ grant. Applications are due September 30, 2025.  

This program provides funding for the planning, development, and improvement of trails and related infrastructure to enhance outdoor recreational opportunities. The program is intended to boost local economies and outdoor industries, as well as foster community wellbeing through equitable access.   

Eligible applicants include Tribes, Pueblos, and Nations, municipalities, counties, non-profits, public schools and school districts, public colleges and universities, soil and water conservation districts, Acequia and land grant associations. 

A total of $7.2 million is available for FY26. Round 1 closes September 30, 2025 and Round 2 will open November 1, 2025.

Rhode Island Opportunities

Department of Housing Accepting Applications for The Recovery Housing Program

The Rhode Island Department of Housing is Accepting Applications for The Recovery Housing Program. The application end date is September 30, 2025.  

Funding is designed to support stable transitional housing for individuals in recovery from a substance-use disorder. Eligible activities include the acquisition and or rehabilitation costs associated with properties used as Recovery Housing including but not limited to architectural fees and appraisals. Eligible applicants include municipalities, and non-profits in coordination with the municipality in which the project is located.  

A minimum of $3 million is available for the acquisition rehabilitation component of the program. There are no maximums or minimums for individual proposals.

Vermont Opportunities

The Municipal Planning Grant Program Will Start Accepting Applications September 1 

The Vermont Department of Housing and Community Development will begin accepting applications for the Municipal Planning Grant Program September 1, 2025. The Application deadline is November 3, 2025.  

Funding supports planning and revitalization for local municipalities in Vermont to support statewide planning goals.  

The FY 26 application timeline is as follows:  

  • August 2025: program announcement  
  • September 1, 2025: online application opens  
  • November 3, 2025: application deadline 
  • November-December 2025: award announcements 
  • December 1, 2025: grant term begins  
  • December 31, 2027: grant term ends 
  • January 31, 2028: grant closeout due
