Federal Opportunities
Fuels Management and Community Fire Assistance Program Activities, Open Until July 23
The Bureau of Land Managment is now accepting applications to the Fuels Management and Community Fire Assistance Program. Application deadline is July 23, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.
This funding is designed to support management of vegetation to reduce the intensity, severity, or negative effects of wildfire. Eligible applicants include public and state-controlled institutions of higher education, city or town governments, private higher education institutions, county governments, state governments, Native American Tribal governments and tribal organizations.
Acceptable program activities include:
- Developing local capacities through assessment and planning
- Community and homeowner mitigation efforts
- Implementation of fuels management treatment and activities
More specific program activities may include training, monitoring, or implementing fuels management on federal land or adjacent non-federal land and assisting with wildfire prevention and mitigation to communities.
The maximum award is $1,000,000 with an award minimum of $10,000. The total program funding is approximately $17,830,000.

Maine Opportunities
Efficiency Maine Energy Storage System Program Now Accepting Applications
The Efficiency Maine Trust (Efficiency Maine) is now accepting applications for the Energy Storage System (ESS) Program. The program opened July 1 and is set to close June 30, 2026.
Funding is provided by Efficiency Maine, an independent quasi-state agency that plans and implements energy efficiency programs in the state. The ESS Program is designed to provide incentives to deploy energy storage systems during summer peak demand conditions. Awards are funded by Electric Efficiency Procurement.
Eligible applicants include all demand metered customers, commercial, non-profit, institutions, and governments. Eligible projects must be located in Maine with a Maine electric utility account. Awarded systems must:
- Be approved by the trust before installation
- Be at least 20 kW
- Maintain a minimum 80% round-trip efficiency
- Be able to collect and transmit 15-minute interval data
- Carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty
- Be UL listed or certified by a nationally recognized testing lab.

Efficiency Maine Commercial and Industrial Custom Program Now Accepting Applications
The Efficiency Maine Trust (Efficiency Maine) is now accepting applications for the Commercial and Industrial (C&I) Custom Program. The program opened July 1 and is set to close June 30, 2026.
Funding is provided by Efficiency Maine, an independent quasi-state agency that plans and implements energy efficiency programs in the state. The C&I Custom Program is designed to support projects that reduce energy use for customers in Maine, served by a Maine electric utility or receiving fuel from Maine sources.
Maine businesses, non-profits, institutions, and governments are eligible for funding for electrical and thermal energy efficiency projects through the C&I Custom Program.
Eligible projects may include improvements to efficiency, heat recovery and custom heat pump systems, HVAC equipment and controls, high efficiency compressed air systems, installation of VFD’s on motors, chillers, and pump upgrades.

New Mexico Opportunities
Special Evaluation Assistance for Rural Communities and Households In New Mexico, Accepting Applications
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development (RD) office is accepting applications for the Special Evaluation Assistance for Rural Communities and Households (SEARCH) Program.
Funding is designed to support small, financially distressed rural communities with predevelopment feasibility studies, design and technical assistance on proposed water and waste disposal projects.
Eligible applicants include state and local entities, non-profits, and federally recognized tribes. Eligible areas must have a population of 2,500 or less, and have a median household income below the poverty line or less than 80% of the statewide non-metropolitan median household income on the most recent Census.
Predevelopment planning costs are eligible for funding, including:
- Feasibility studies for projects funding water or waste disposal projects
- Preliminary design and engineering analysis
- Technical assistance for development on application for financial assistance
Applications are accepted year-round, and prospective applicants are encouraged to reach out to your local RD office.
Rhode Island Opportunities
PY 24 Community Development Block Grant Housing Rehabilitation Accepting Applications Until August 5,2025
The Rhode Island Department of Housing PY 24 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Housing Rehabilitation is now accepting applications. Deadline to apply is August 5, 2025.
Funding is provided by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for distribution to eligible communities. CDBG is intended to provide housing, expand economic opportunities, and create suitable living environments for low to moderate income people earning 80% or less of the Area Median Income.
Eligible activities and priorities include:
- Housing
- Economic development
- Facilities improvements
- Services and planning
- Neighborhood revitalization

Vermont Opportunities
2026 Municipal Park and Ride Program Applications Due August 26
The Vermont Agency for Transportation (VTrans) is accepting applications for the 2026 Municipal Park and Ride program. Applications are due August 26, 2025.
The Park and Ride program is designed to provide safe and convenient parking facilities to reduce single occupancy vehicles on the roads, which reduces vehicle pollutants and traffic congestion. The State Legislature has designated funds to develop small municipally owned and maintained Park and Ride Facilities.
Proposed facilities must meet several requirements:
- Located on municipal property
- Located on or near a state highway
- Available to commuters year-round
- Provide parking for a minimum of 10 vehicles
- Be owned and maintained by the municipality
Funding supports the engineering and construction activities of the facility. Maintenance of existing lots is not eligible for funding. Collaboration with any present public transit is strongly encouraged. This grant requires a 20% local share.
