In celebration of #WomenEngineersDay, Capital Strategic Solutions is proud to recognize Kerry Reed, P.E., Public Works Director for the Town of Hopkinton, Massachusetts – an engineer, veteran, problem-solver, and public servant who has spent her career building resilient communities from the ground up.
A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Kerry discovered her passion for environmental engineering in an earth science classroom and never looked back. Her military service as an engineering officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers shaped her mission-focused mindset and earned her an Army Achievement Medal for excellence in project management.
Kerry’s work didn’t stop when she transitioned from national service to public service. She has gone on to hold leadership roles in Framingham and Worcester, champion local infrastructure, and advocate for clean water and sustainability as a leader with both the Central Massachusetts Regional Stormwater Coalition and the Statewide Stormwater Coalition’s Think Blue Massachusetts campaign.
Now, as Hopkinton’s Director of Public Works, she is guiding the Town through transformative infrastructure improvements, including the MWRA Connection Project – with the same integrity, discipline, and empathy that have defined her career. A longtime resident and former co-vice chair of the Hopkinton Conservation Commission, Kerry is a true hometown leader whose commitment to service is personal.
She leads with her whole self: as a mother, a mentor, a veteran, and a passionate environmental steward. Her story reminds us that the best engineers don’t just build systems: they build trust, opportunity, and long-lasting impact.
