Capital Strategic Solutions is very excited to welcome Mark Dempsey to our team as a Senior Project Manager. Mark brings his extensive experience in municipal government and expertise in Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance to serve our clients. His knowledge of the needs of people with disabilities and his work as a disability advocate have earned him respect in his local community and across the country. His drive and passion for accessibility has motivated many a critic into becoming an advocate. His informative style and persistent work ethic has gained him access at every level of advocacy, whether it be local, state, or federal. Our team has had the pleasure of working with Mark in the past and looks forward to bringing his expertise to communities across New England.
Most recently, Mark served in Framingham as the city’s Access Compliance Inspector, before growing and evolving the position into ADA Coordinator. As a coordinator, Mark worked with the Disability Commission and various other departments to ensure compliance. Mark also worked to ensure compliance with Commonwealth of Massachusetts Regulation 521 (521 CMR), conducting onsite reviews for construction. Through this role, Mark shared his expertise with dozens of different professions, from contractors to architects, property owners, disability commissions, and the general public. Mark was able to support projects throughout the construction process to ensure compliance and assisted with the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board (AAB) Variance process if projects did not meet 521 CMR standards. This experience shows his dedication to provide guidance and assistance in meeting compliance throughout a project entire duration.
Mark has also served on the Massachusetts AAB for more than a decade. During his tenure Mark was able to expand his expertise across the state, enforcing regulations that ensured accessible and safe access to Massachusetts’ public buildings, including technical support and guidance to building owners and the Board to ensure clarity of communications. This high-level focus on customer service allowed everyone involved to understand the necessity of compliance, the process of meeting compliance, and feel invested in achieving compliance.
For many years now, Mark has also been involved with the MetroWest Center for Independent Living. His passion for community advocacy was developed through his volunteer work at MetroWest when investigating reports of architectural barriers, meeting with Disability commissions, and advocating on behalf of those commissions and their members at the local and state level. And as a testament to his commitment to the disabled community, Mark was recently voted onto the Board of Directors for MetroWest, where he will continue to advocate for accessibility and compliance.
With his breadth of experience, Mark is an asset to any team, and we’re excited to have him on ours. Welcome aboard, Mark!
