Replace that medium or large freight truck with an electric engine with a grant
Utilizing funds from a settlement with Volkswagen regarding diesel emissions, the State has launched a grant program to fund electrification projects to offset NOx emissions. Communities with trucks (as well as school buses and refuse trucks) from model years 1992-2009 are eligible to apply for up to $500,000 to either repower (replace) an engine or replace the entire vehicle with a new electric vehicle. The program will cover 45-60% of the cost up to this amount depending on whether the applicant is an environmental justice community. The program will also cover the charging infrastructure needed to power the new vehicle.
Applications are due by 5 PM on September 26th.
Police Department Grants to meet unmet public safety needs
The Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance grant has been funded again this year, providing grants for up to $50,000 per community to address unmet needs in the areas of local law enforcement prevention, diversion & suppression programming. Key to winning this grant is developing a narrative to explain the community’s unmet needs, and the assessment of how those can best be addressed whether it be through technology, programming, or additional services. The types of costs covered by the grant include salaries & benefits, equipment, and supplies, depending on the program or equipment proposed in the application.
Grant applications must be submitted both electronically and by hard copy by 4 PM on Wednesday, August 23rd.
