MAPC, supported by the Barr Foundation is inviting its member communities to submit grant applications for one-year municipal projects that advance strategies to protect people, places, and communities from the impacts of climate change. MAPC anticipates awarding up to ten grants of up to $50,000 each for projects that address at least one of nine resilience strategies that could be transferrable to other communities once implemented. Projects will be evaluated based upon meeting one or more of those priorities, identifying how the project will strengthen resilience, have direct benefits to vulnerable populations, demonstrate meaningful public engagement and create opportunities for learning, replication & best practices. Previously funded projects were as varied as tree planting initiatives, building retrofit programs, and rapid implementation of municipal climate action plans. Proposals are due by 5:00 PM on Friday, September 15th.
