Shannon Community Safety Initiative – FFY 2027

Funding Available: Approximately $8.92 million statewide

Letter of Intent: Strongly encouraged by September 10, 2026
Eligible Applicants: Municipal entities serving as the lead applicant and fiscal agent
The Shannon Community Safety Initiative supports multidisciplinary approaches to addressing gang and youth violence. Municipal applicants must document gang related activity within their communities. Applications that include a 25% match will receive preference.

Seaport Economic Council Dredging Construction & Regional Equipment Grants
Funding Agency: Massachusetts Executive Office of Economic Development
Award Amount: $100,000–$1 million
Deadline: September 22, 2026
Eligible Applicants: Coastal municipalities and qualifying public entities

Maine Digital Resilience Program

Drinking Water & Groundwater Trust Fund – Construction Project Assistance
Funding Agency: New Hampshire Drinking Water and Groundwater Trust Fund / NHDES

Eligible Applicants: Political subdivisions and eligible public and community water systems
This program provides grant and loan assistance for drinking-water infrastructure construction. For the 2026 grant cycle, grants are limited to communities with at least 60% full-time occupancy.

Granite State Clean Fleets Grant

Funding Available: Approximately $1.5 million remaining
Deadline: Rolling monthly
Eligible Applicants: Municipalities, school districts, transit agencies, and other qualifying public entities
The Granite State Clean Fleets Grant helps eligible entities replace older diesel vehicles and equipment with cleaner alternatives. Depending on the project, reimbursement may reach 95%, making this an opportunity worth exploring DPW, fire, refuse, utility, and other municipal fleets.

Rhode Island Funding Opportunities
2026 Nonpoint Source Implementation Grants – Targeted Watersheds
Funding Agency: Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management
Award Amount: $25,000–$250,000
Deadline: October 16, 2026
Funding supports water quality restoration, stormwater improvements, and green infrastructure within eligible targeted watersheds. Municipal, state, and regional governments are among the eligible applicants. Routine MS4 compliance activities are excluded.
Opioid Settlement Municipal Incentive Fund

This funding opportunity supports municipal opioid-abatement initiatives and operates on a quarterly application cycle.

This competitive program supports the purchase or lease of body-worn cameras as part of a comprehensive body worn camera program. FY 2026 Local Law Enforcement Crime Gun Intelligence Center Integration Initiative

FY 2026 Kevin and Avonte Program

FY 2026 Intellectual Property Enforcement Program

FY 2026 Enhancing Security Measures for Houses of Worship
Funding Agency: U.S. Department of Justice / Bureau of Justice Assistance

This program supports efforts to strengthen security at houses of worship and may include security cameras, evidence systems, institutional security measures, and partnerships with law enforcement agencies.
For municipalities, the opportunity may be particularly relevant where a police department can partner with eligible faith based institutions to strengthen security planning and coordinated response capabilities. Municipalities outside New England may also want to explore several newly opened opportunities, including Florida’s Coastal Partnership Initiative Grant Program, which offers $10,000–$60,000 for eligible coastal resilience and stewardship projects; Vermont’s FY27 Municipal Planning Grant, offering up to $50,000 for individual municipalities and up to $65,000 for consortium projects; and Texas’ Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant, offering between $50,000 and $5 million for qualifying defense communities.
