The State of Massachusetts released a new grant to encourage or improve passageways for diadromous (sea-run) fish to enter coastal rivers each spring. The program prioritizes funding construction costs for small fishway projects that are in the top 20 ranking for each of the four coastal regions.

Information about the fish passageways can be found at: MassGIS Data: Diadromous Fish | Mass.gov.

The grant awards will range from $10,000 to $75,000 and projects must be completed between July 1 and June 30. The initial contract period will be for three years from the official start date, and there will be two options to renew the contract.

Grant applications will be accepted until February 26, 2027, via Commbuys.
