The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has announced that applications for technical assistance grants to improve land practices are available, due on May 26th.

Municipalities or a group of communities may apply for up to $50,000 to retain technical assistance to improve practices such as zoning for sustainable housing production, zoning that results in permanent land conservation, or mitigation of climate change through zoning. There are a wide variety of tasks that would be eligible under these categories.

Evaluation criteria includes advances sustainable development, implements various plans (master, climate change, open space, housing production, or an MVP project), regional projects, consistence with State sustainable development principles. While the grant requires a 25% match, a wide variety of funding sources are eligible including DLTA funds and Unified Planning Work program funds.
