The Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to support its Expanded Medication Assisted Treatment (EMAT) Program. The award provides $750,000 in Year 1,with anticipated annual awards of $750,000 in Years 2 through 5,for a potential total of $3.75 million,subject to program outcomes and continued funding availability.
CSS had the privilege of working closely with the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office to develop and prepare the grant application. The successful award reflects the strength of the program,the commitment of the Sheriff’s Office team,and the value of collaboration in pursuing competitive funding opportunities.
The EMAT Program is designed to expand access to medication-assisted treatment and related substance use disorder services for individuals involved in the correctional system. Federal funding will provide critical resources to support the Sheriff’s Office as it continues this important work.
